Welcome to St John Children’s Ministry. Children are an important part of our church community. Our ministry encourages children to learn to love God and others through Sunday School, Chapel, CONNECT, Community Service Projects and Fellowship Opportunities so that they might grow in faith, their relationship with Jesus Christ and each other.

Sunday School meets FROM 9:30-10:15 AM
For our programs at St John, we use curriculum from Group DigIn Curriculum. Each program includes a Bible Story, music and fun activities that help grow children’s faith. If your family wants to sing along to the songs we sing each week, please visit our Spotify playlist WORSHIP MUSIC FOR FAMILIES.
CHILDREN’s CHURCH meets 10:45 - 11:30 am
Children’s Church begins in the Sanctuary with our families and ends in our Children’s Wing. Please note that children are always welcome in our Worship Service at 10:30 am. We have a special message for them during worship called “Children’s Moment.” After the message, children ages 0 to 5th grade are invited to join us for Children’s Church which includes a Bible Story, activities and snack. Parents will pick up their child in the Children’s Wing.
Tuesdays:
Chapel is 10 AM each Tuesday
Chapel is a great opportunity for children to gather together and worship with music, motions and a Bible story. Chapel lasts about 20 - 30 minutes and is primarily for The Chastain School at St John children.** Parents are welcome to join their child every Tuesday for Chapel and especially encouraged to come for Birthday Blessings. Birthday Blessings usually occurs every 1st Tuesday of the month. Each child/teacher celebrating a birthday is asked to come forward to receive a blessing from our Senior Pastor.
Most of our time in Chapel looks a lot like worship on a Sunday morning. We sit in the “big church.” We sing praise songs. We pray. We hear God’s word. Some Bible lessons lend themselves to a different approach that might look a whole lot like play. Rest assured at the end of the day, our goal for every Chapel is that each child leaves knowing that God loves them so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to show us how to live.
**Children ages 1-5th grade who are not enrolled in the Chastain School @ St John are invited to attend. They must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.
Wednesdays:
CONNECT Meets from 3:30 - 4:30 pM
CONNECT is an opportunity for school-aged children to gather together after-school each week and put their faith in action with Fellowship, Fun and Service. Service actions have included decorating care packages for our college students, creating one-of-a-kind Valentines for our home-bound friends, collecting food for Solidarity Sandy Springs and caring for the birds in the winter with bird feeders. Some of the more FUN memorable moments have included Protect Moses Egg-Drop, Scavenger Hunts, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Race, Roll the Stone Away, Singing and Narrating The Best Christmas Story EVER Nativity Play. Fellowship is a vital component to what makes CONNECT work. CONNECT is about connecting to the God and Jesus and others.
At this time, CONNECT is only open to children enrolled in the after-school program at The Chastain School @ St John. We are considering opening up additional CONNECT groups. If you are interested, please contact our Children’s Ministry Director, Tiffany Stout (children@stjohnatlanta.org).
