At St. John, it is our goal to be the hands, feet and heart of Jesus to those in our neighborhoods and to those throughout our state, our country and the world.  There are numerous opportunities to serve in ministries, missions and outreach efforts no matter your particular gifts and talents.

For more information on missions and outreach, contact Susan Hannan, office@stjohnatlanta.org.

Recovery Ministry

Recovery ministry has been a part of St. John's outreach effort for decades.  St. John partners with Metro Atlanta Recovery Residences ("MARR"), and is the host site for MARR's longest running spiritual life group.  In addition, a Sunday morning small group focuses on issues likely to resonate with those dealing with addiction and recovery.  It is open to both MARR members and non-members alike.

Music Ministry

Our ministry through music offers opportunities for everyone who has an interest in music and a desire to serve their church by lifting voices and instruments in joy and praise to the God we serve. All of St. John’s choirs are comprised of members and friends who volunteer their time and service Some have had formal musical training; most have not. All are welcome and invited to come and join with our singers and ringers.

Project Feed 5000

Project Feed 5000 is St. John's annual Lenten mission.  The project is based around the miracle of the fishes and loaves, where Jesus fed a crowd of over 5,000 people with only 5 loaves of bread and 2 small fish. We try to emulate that example by collecting food items that would make up 5,000 separate meals, and provide that food to the Community Assistance Center.

Walk Through Bethlehem

Bethlehem:  A Christmas Story is an annual live Nativity and so much more.  We reconstruct the town of Bethlehem, complete with Roman Centurions, Merchants, Inn Keepers, Camels, Donkeys, and Shepherds, and invite you to walk through the town on your way to the discovery of Jesus.  There, Angels herald His arrival, and Mary and Joseph encounter Wisemen from the East.  Later, you are invited into the church to experience music in the sanctuary, quiet reflection in our prayer room, cookies and cider in the Fellowship Hall, and crafts and fun for children.

Other Ministries, Missions and Outreach

At St. John, we are always looking for opportunities to serve others.  Some examples of the many ministries, missions and outreach efforts that we engage in weekly, monthly and annually include:

Wesley Woods, Murphy Harpst Children's Home, Camp Hope/Kidz 2 Leaders, Habitat for Humanity, the Flag Ministry, Living and Giving Nativity, We Care Packages for College Students, the Prayer Ministry, and the Atlanta Union Mission Christmas Party.
